CYW 149 From Soup to Stew
The hydrothermal system at Artists Paintpots operates like a double boiler. Underneath the ground there is a hot water system with hot acidic steam. That heats the ground above and causes rocks to dissolve into clay. The consistency of this clay varies - from soup to stew - depending upon the season and the amount of precipitation received.
