CYW 034 The Long Climb UP – NOT MINE
The next morning Ken went out to the car early to check the tires, oil, but most of all the “CHECK ENGINE” light. We ate our included in the room price breakfast at the hotel and then we were off!! Good thing the “CHECK ENGINE” light was out too, because soon after leaving Golden headed west on I-70 the big climb up the eastern side of the Rockies got serious and culminated at the Eisenhower - Edwin C. Johnson Memorial Tunnel, elevation 11,158 feet! (This a generic shot filched from the internet for by the time Ken saw it coming it was too late to stop and take a picture.)
